We are excited to present to you the new and improved synod website! Thanks to a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the synod has been undergoing a process of re-branding which has included new logos, letterhead, the SD Synod cookbooks, and now an updated synod website. God is doing amazing things around the world through the people of the South Dakota Synod. The synod website is the place that we want to use to share those stories of God at work in our midst.
Not only does the website have a new look, but it also has new interactivity that we hope you have fun with.
- The new Facebook and Twitter integration allows you to share what you are reading or “like” on the website. Comment on a story that resonates with you and share it with all of your Facebook friends and Twitter followers.
- See photos and postings that tell the story of what God is doing through the South Dakota Synod right on the home page!
- See what other congregations are up to on Congregational News and send us photos and stories of ministry happening in your congregation.
- Keep up to date on Synod News and events by signing up to receive Synod E-News or subscribe to the Synod RSS Feed.
- Find recipes for ministries happening through congregations in our synod and share your own.
- See photos of synod and congregational happenings on our Flickr Page and videos on our YouTube Channel.
This is your synod website so we hope you visit often, “like” posts, comment, and share all that God is doing in the South Dakota Synod with your friends and family! Thank you for your continued partnership in ministry and for helping us tell the story of the South Dakota Synod and ELCA.
God’s Work. Our Hands.

David, It was good to see you at Bob Henricksen’s funeral in Rapid City. I know Ruth and her family really appreciated what you said as well as making the trip to be there.
I’ve wanted to tell you many times how much I appreciate the fine job you are doing as Bishop. Your style of leadership and the way you handle things is commendable. I’m glad I voted for you.
It’s got to be a tough job, being pastor to the pastors of South Dakota plus dealing with other church wide matters as well as family affairs. I hope you are taking care of yourself and taking time off to get away for some R&R.
As you know I am serving Lord of Life in Rapid City on a part time basis — minimum of 20 hours per week (2 days in the office) plus preaching on Sundays. I find the people to be enthusiastic about their church family and they have welcomed me with open arms. I know there is a need for healing within the congregation and I am working on that by doing home visitations and preaching from the pulpit. I enjoy this ministry at Lord of Life. I am open to any words of advice that you many want to share with me. Visit us at any time you feel the need to relax in the Black Hills. Thanks again for the great job you are doing. I continue to pray for you in all your work. God bless.
