New Nicaragua Missionary

The South Dakota Synod has companion Synod relationships with Nicaragua and Cameroon. Our relationship with Cameroon has been for a longer, time but more travelers from South Dakota have gone to Nicaragua.
Our relationship with Nicaragua involves sending a missionary in cooperation with the ELCA. This is a volunteer mission position with a stipend and travel paid by the South Dakota Synod. Churches are invited to sponsor our missionary with budgeted or extra gifts. (One church has a missionary calendar and asks for sponsor families at $25 per week; another church sponsors through Sunday School offerings.)
Mike Busbey has agreed to fill the opening for this position. He will begin in September. He has been a visitor to Nicaragua several times representing his home church in Maryland so comes with knowledge of the Lutheran Church of Nicaragua as well as a Spanish language/Anthropology degree.
If your church would like to explore sponsoring Mike and his work in Nicaragua, please contact Cathy Larson, Companion Synod Coordinator, in the Synod Office at 605-274-4031.
