The Central American floods of October 2011 resulted in severe crop loss in Nicaragua. When the harvest was lost, seeds to replant were also lost in the regions of Somotillo, Villa Nueva and Chinandega.
Agricultural logistical support and seeds to plant in the spring amount to $13,000. The South Dakota Synod would like to raise this amount to support our companion communities who depend on agriculture for their economic well-being. Please consider an offering in your congregation to give our Lutheran companions in Nicaragua, providing vital support to their communities.
Funds may be sent to the synod office and designated to “Nicaragua—Seeds for Spring 2012”. We hope to forward these funds by mid-February so seed can be secured and distributed to farmers in the spring.
Thank you for thinking of others as mutual Children of God, brothers and sisters in God’s work. Our hands.
