It will soon be time to start the Advocacy Project, the email alert system that we use during the South Dakota state legislature, in which we are voices for people in need. It sure was exciting last year as we helped to make over $800,000 available to food pantries around our state. We played an important role in that win.
You can be an advocate from home of course, but if you can come to Pierre, here is one occasion to put on your calendar. Bread Days, Feb 4-5. Here is the half-page flier you can copy and share and/or submit for your church bulletin or newsletter.
For your church or other group, if the whole half-page flier doesn’t get into the bulletin or newsletter, you can post it and submit a short paragraph such as this for the announcements:
“BREAD DAYS” IN PIERRE, Feb 4-5. sponsored by Bread for the World, will include Biblical reflection, advocacy focus on hunger, and a session of the 2013 series “South Dakotans Talking,” a public discourse on access to affordable healthcare. Check the flier on the bulletin board for details. Be a presence in Pierre for people in need.
