Welcome to the South Dakota Synod, ELCA |
|
The South Dakota Synod is one of the 65 synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the fifth largest Protestant denomination in the country.
The word "synod" means "walking together." Our synod's 253 congregations, found across the state of South Dakota, walk together in a common mission: God's Work, Our Hands.
Our 122,758 members have come together to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and to serve God's people in our homes, our communities, and our world. We invite you to learn more about our synod – our staff and congregations, our ministry in South Dakota and around the world, and our workshops and events. If you are near one of our congregations on Sunday, we hope you will join the members in worshiping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our offices are located in the Chapel Building on the campus of Augustana College, Sioux Falls. You'll find a campus map here. (We are #18 on the map.)
The 2009 Synod Handbook was mailed in early January. Please contact the synod office if you should have received a copy but did not. The electronic version is online: click here!
