Domestic & International Relief

For the ELCA, being prepared means different things for different types of disaster response.  While both ministries are committed to the long-term recovery of all disaster affected areas, the ELCA response to domestic disasters and international disasters can be very different.

International Response
During international disasters, the ELCA relies very heavily on its partnerships around the globe, providing financial aid to help trusted organizations best address the problems and minister to the people with which they are intimately familiar.

Domestic Response
During domestic disasters, the ELCA takes a more hands-on approach, both administering financial aid and by being physically present through Lutheran Disaster Response staff and volunteers.  Domestic response also includes an array of partnerships in a variety of forms.
