Get Your Hands on the Mission!
Mission partnerships are about congregations and people coming together to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many ways that you can be involved in the mission efforts of our South Dakota Synod. “Synod” is all of the churches acting together in common mission and ministry. Act today to be part of the exciting new missions of our synod.
Wherever new ELCA ministries are started in South Dakota, you are there through your congregation’s regular support of synod and churchwide ministries.
Mission Partners, Mission Founders, and Mission Boosters provide ways for you and your congregation to be “hands on” with the mission! Contact Pastor Bill Tesch in the synod office, 605/274-4026 or

Mission Partners are mutually supportive congregations who offer whatever each has (Prayer, Presence, and Presents) for the good of the other. Partners understand themselves as blessed to be a blessing. They support one another with Prayer, Gifts of Money, Material Gifts, and Gifts of Leadership.
Prayer
Prayer support for a new congregation is a vital aspect of becoming a Mission Partner
Gifts of Money
Congregations provide general financial support for new congregations. They give specific funds for particular needs of a congregation, such as the pastor’s salary, building programs, or purchase of land.
Material Gifts
Many congregations offer gifts of office equipment, worship supplies, hymnals, chancel furnishings, etc.
Gifts of Leadership
Congregations can share leadership expertise such as worship leadership, education, etc. with their Mission Partner congregation. |
Mission Founders are individuals, congregations, small groups of neighboring congregations, or synods that give their hands to God’s Work by funding a mission developer at a new mission site. Founders may sponsor a new congregation by birthing a satellite in a new location, starting a second campus in a different part of town, or supporting a completely independent site.
Congregations or individuals considering becoming Mission Founders can contact Pastor Bill Tesch in the synod office, 605/274-4026 or

Mission Boosters are Christian men and women with a passion for spreading the good news about Jesus.
The Mission Booster “Ready-100” is made up of individuals who provide support for mission congregations and emerging new ministries in the following ways.
Prayer
Boosters uplift the needs of new ministries in their personal prayers. Gifts of Money
Boosters commit to give $100 at least once and may choose to give up to three additional times per year. Mission Boosters might be called upon if unexpected needs arise or so that the new ministry can take advantage of a promising opportunity to expand their mission and reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our Pledge to You
The Evangelical Outreach Committee will screen all requests and will forward to Boosters only the most urgent needs that arise during the year.
